We're now on felt! Creative Monsoon has joined New Zealand handmade site felt.co.nz so we can get our groovy kiwi t shirts and photography out there. Check out our new online store.
So very nearly there! Just a few finishing touches and the new kitchen is done. Here is little Scampi standing guard of his favourite room in the house.
Wow! What a great idea these are. We're always dancing around trying to get kids to look at the camera. These little handmade lens pets are made to order to fit your lens or camera, a great idea for pros and mums and dads. From Mandee Franee Designs.
Scampi and I are home alone this weekend while daddy heads off to NZ. How about a pretty pink glamour shoot while he's away? he he he

Just doing the finishing touches to the kitchen now and one thing I have always wanted in a chalkboard spice rack! After no luck finding a nice reasonably priced frame, plan B is magnetic paint and then a top coat of chalkboard paint on a section of wall. Will let you know how it goes.
We finally have a kitchen top!! Hooray! And the plumber even came round and hooked up the dishwasher AND the sink. How nice is it not to have to do the dishes in the bathroom!? And Im loving the look of the new smeg appliances, cant wait for the cook top to be hooked up. We've been getting stuck into the painting this weekend, and despite a major drama at one point when the enamal paint spilt all over the new bench and dishwasher, its all ok, and all coming together now.
One big job down, all the floors are now done. Hooray! Just a little more work to finish the wall off and the kitchen bench top is in production. Getting there.
The new flooring has gone down today which should make a huge difference. Most of the plastering work is done, just a bit to finish off. Now we're just waiting for our kitchen bench top to be fitted, probably next week.
After a completely disastrous start to the week with the builder not showing up and the kitchen company trying to change install dates. The wall between the kitchen and lounge is now gone. One big job done, two to go!
Another favourite from the Wynne prize this year, Min Woo Bang and his beautiful misty acrylic landscape paintings.
Here's a little something I stumbled onto today, beautiful Paris and London maps based on an original paper cut design. For sale through Famillie Summerbelle. I might have to pick up one of these, gorgeous!
Another pretty packaging find this month I wanted to share. I just love these cute cubes from Nude. Simple, minimalist design for a lovely range.
... and I don't appreciate your insinuation that I am some how involved in its disappearance. Happy weekend everyone!
Another exhibition I really liked this month, Ann Gordon at the Frances Keevil Gallery in Double Bay. I particularly liked the mixed media and encaustic on marble and the little bits of sewing added to the work. Pic via Frances Keevil Gallery.
I know this post is very belated, but a few weeks ago I caught the last day of one of my favourite exhibitions, the Wynne prize. The stand out work to me was this beautiful acrylic painting (top) called Shore Leave by Neil Frazer. Great texture, the water really seemed to move. More of Neil's beautiful work also shown above.

Finally getting a little closer to our new kitchen. Ive had the computer drawing through today, which, naturally, Ive coloured in. Well Im not having cream walls! :)
Scampi made another trip to a cafe this weekend, he was pretty well behaved, which is more than we can say for the day before...
I'm very excited about the start of a new project at creative monsoon...
Well, when I say new this is actually something I first started working on during my fine arts degree at uni, "uh hum" years ago. I'm busy, busy, busy creating lots of new exciting work. So watch this space.
Until then head on over to our etsy shop, we've got just three prints left! !
We had a sweet treat in the office this week, a box of beautiful hand painted chocolates from Coco Chocolate. Each one was so beautiful it seemed a shame to eat them, but I have to say the flavours were a bit odd. I'm not sure what a geranium is meant to taste like (as I don't usually go around eating them) but geranium chocolate...? Hummm not convinced. But they sure look pretty!
I'm so pleased we have finally made a start on our new kitchen, we've put a deposit down on the design and the sexy new smeg appliances. (Hooray for an oven that doesn't pump hot air at my legs every time I use it!) I thought I'd share a few pics I've been collecting the past year that have inspired the design, sadly I didnt keep records of credits, sorry. But I'd say they came via Apartment Therapy and Decor8, great sites if your looking for interior design inspiration.
